Kreeti Shakya is the designer and founder of Kazi Studio. After studying and living in US for more than 10 years, Kreeti returned to Nepal around 2010 and founded Kazi Studios with a modern pursuit in creating job opportunities for tech experts and digital designers, introducing the values of art and design to the market, a concept still quite new o Nepal.
Throughout the last decade, Kreeti has expanded her company, developing various creative products and services to broaden Nepal’s creative outreach in Nepal’s society. The 4 major brands include:
- Kazi Play = “landlord” in Nepali, an innovative board games and card games brand
- Alchi = “lazy” in Nepali, a retail outlet brand to empower creative women entrepreneurs
- Smart Maka = “smart monkey” in Nepali, a brand that provides customized solutions to solve business problems using IOT technology to monitor hardware devices
- Allaré = “vagabond” in Nepali, a brand focus on transcending Nepali art and culture into modern mediums
Kazi Studios created the first board game in Nepal, Samrajya, inspired by Nepal’s capital Kathmandu and its epic history. Yet, despite having introduced variety of board games and card games, Nepal’s general public are still foreign to this new form of entertainment. With every game and gift offering a unique strong cultural backstory, Kazi Studios gained a good amount of attention from abroad. Board games like Jatra, Payoo, Langur Burja, and Samrajya serve as a bridge connecting the older and younger generation as they play together, while also serve as a bridge to one’s own identity, the traditions and cultures that made up who we are.
