HAND-CRAFTED IN TAIWAN
Handmade rainbow yarn wrapped thick hoop earrings. “Vevean” means Spring in Pinayuanan, one of the Austronesian languages spoken by the Paiwan Indigenous people from the island of Taiwan.
Traditionally, women in Paiwan tribes passed down loom weaving skills from mother to daughter. With Taiwan being an island, indigenous tribes often use weave patterns and colors found in nature, including sun, moon, rainbow, rain, leaf, humans, and animals like snakes, and boar.
ARTIST
Known as “Qilai x Muakai”, the artist likes to use bright color that pops and contrast, creating fun and funky personalities for those who want to stand out from the average crowds. She is known to never recreate the same earrings twice, and draws random inspiration for her work with quirky asymmetrical style. Every product is crafted with a unique personality.
Some of her most popular creations are headbands, earrings, and key chains. Muakai represents the indigenous Paiwan tribe living in Pingtung, southeast of Taiwan.
